Make-up Box

I made a make-up box from one of the fat quarters from Kayla! I got the pattern from http://cyberseams.com/article/104986/holidays/make_a_fabric_gift_box.html and used only the lid pattern to make my box. I added one inch to each side to make it a little bigger. I drew the pattern on some thick interfacing and cut it out.

Then I stitched the corners together like this..

I put fabric around the outside and stitched it around the top, and then I stitched the corners to make it stay.

Another Scarf

This is the latest scarf I have been "knitting."

New Toy

I got a new toy from Julie, and this is what I've done so far. I want to make a button for my new purse using this...but I'm still working on that.

New Purse

I got a pattern for a reversible purse and I worked on it this morning.

The Second!

This is the other one I just finished!

First One!

I finished the top of the first quilt!

I am going to make two “baby” quilts using these 330 squares. One will be for my godson, John, and the other for his new baby brother. John was born just before Julio and I got married, so I never had the chance to make him a quilt. The neat part is that most of the squares are from fabric I had at home. I only had to buy four fat quarters!

Another Scarf

I used the “Knifty Knitter” to make this scarf, and I found it way easier than knitting! I’m already working on another one! The button was an influence from “Kate Did,” but I used a snap button instead.

Scarves!

My quest to make a scarf began a few years ago when I tried to take up knitting- unsuccessfully. This past Christmas I again tried to learn how to knit, this time my mother taught me- successfully! Unfortunately, after working on it for a little, I decided that knitting was not for me. I still wanted to make some scarves, so I found the first one on http://www.marthastewart.com/good-thing/no-knit-scarf.

Still, I had some problems making this- it wasn’t long enough or thick enough. I bought the thickest yarn I could find, so this one is still a working progress. I am still thinking what I can do to make it better…

After explaining my woes to Julie last night, she directed me to http://katiedid.squarespace.com/. So, with the leftover yarn, I made a different one. This one wasn’t as easy or fast as the knot scarf, but I like it a lot better. The hard part was the first few stitches, but then it became easier. The directions are simple and it came out really cute. If I had to do it again, I would probably use more yarn, but I ran out.

Now my scarf adventure isn’t over yet. I bought a “Knifty Knitter” at Jo-Ann’s. This is like those little hand held knitters most of us had a children with the four nails that you would wind the yarn around, and it would come out the bottom like a long snake. The one I bought is rectangular and plastic. I began a scarf on there two days ago, but had to stop after running out of yarn. Now that I have some more, I am going to finish that one…

My First Blog

So, thanks to Julie, I now have my own blog to post the projects I am working on. I will have pictures coming shortly of some scarves I am doing.
