Trying something new

Jo-Ann Fabrics was having a sale on their McCall patterns. They were only 99 cents! So... I decided to try to make a skirt, it's the first time I've made clothes. I think it turned out pretty good!

Quilting Challenge

For this quilting challenge from my quilting group we are to make a 12X12 wall hanging using hand quilting. It also must have a basket and flowers. I started with this first one here, but was disappointed with the contrast between the pinks and the browns.

Thus, I began a new one. I finished quilting this one today at our "Sew the Day Away" gathering. I also did trapunto quilting for the first time, but only on the butterfly and basket.

New Stuff!

These are some earrings I made at Panopolie today.

This is a bag I made last week. It was the first time I sewed a zipper, it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be.

I made some more headbands for the ladies in the family. You can see Anne modeling hers.

The Beach

Julio and I went to the beach yesterday. The weather was great, but cold! You can see that I'm enjoying the sun!

We had a little company!

While sitting on the beach I did some hand quilting. I'm sure that I looked like a grandmother...

On a side note, here is another picture of our tulips.

Lucky Earrings!

These are the "Try it Tuesday" earrings I made this week. Luckily I put them in my purse, so on St. Patrick's Day (after I already had gotten to work without green) I could put them on!

Tulips

These are the tulips that Julio and I bought a week ago. They are now blooming very nicely now on our back porch.

Spoiled Dog!

A friend of mine gave me a quilt kit for my birthday. The fabrics had dogs, paws, and bones on them. Since Sadie's blanket she sleeps with was looking a little raggedy, I decided to make the quilt for her. The blanket that Sadie had been sleeping with was an old Care Bear sleeping bag I gotten for Christmas on year when I was a kid. She had chewed one corner when she was still in the crate, and I don't think she really like the zipper. The kit made a quilt that was 30.5X36 inches, but I added some other fabrics to make it bigger. Here you can see the finished top layer of the quilt...

Julio suggested that I use the Care Bear blanket because Sadie loves it so much. What I did was put right sides together and then sew around the outside. After that I cut the access fabric off and turned it inside out.

Instead of quilting it, I decided to tie the quilt.

As you can see Sadie enjoyed her warm new quilt last night.

My New Quilting Project

Linda and I decided to do an applique quilt. We're going to do the same quilt, but in different colors. I chose to do mine in pink and purple, as you can see below.

Here are our blocks next to each other. Linda is making two different quilts, a blue and a brown one.
